Thank you for volunteering!
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions that may help.
FAQs
Annual Coaches Trainings
Coaches have to complete safety training and get a background check annually in the fall. If you complete the training in the fall, it is good for the spring season. Click this link for directions on completing the training and getting your background check. Click Here
Coaches Meeting?
A coaches meeting is held the Sunday and Monday prior to practice starting. The coaches meeting will cover all of the questions and answers found on this page and is required for volunteer coaches.
When do I get my Roster?
Coaches get their rosters after their background check has been cleared and they have completed all of their safety training.
Click here for instructions on completing the background check and safety courses.
When do I get my game schedule?
Game schedules usually go out 1 week before opening day. Games are generally on Saturdays and will usually fall into the same block of time every Saturday.
When is opening day?
The exact day changes from season to season. In the fall, it is the 1st or 2nd Saturday of September. In the spring, it is the 1st or 2nd Saturday of April.
What if I need to reschedule a game?
Any rescheduled games have to take place in the last two weeks of the season.
Your age group will determine the process for rescheduling a game.
---Younger groups without referees (5u-7u) contact the other coach and work out a date. Then communicate that with your age group coordinator and the director of rec. for approval. [email protected]
---Older groups with referees (8u-16u) if at all possible, we try not to reschedule these games because they are much tougher to reschedule for a couple reasons.
1. It is a tight season, and we do not have extra game days outside of our 1 rain out day.
2. They require referees, and we need at least two weeks notice to get referees.
3. Sometimes they require communication with other leagues. Which slows down the process of getting referees.
If at all possible, try to make these games happen on their scheduled time by getting an Assistant coach (has to have completed background check and safety training) or board member to fill in. Your age group coordinator can help with this. If that can not work, you and your age group coordinator should contact the director of rec. as far in advance of the conflict as possible. Use the league email to contact the director. [email protected]
Where is my field?
Your field is listed for both your practice and games on the calendar and schedule. You will also get a reminder email a couple days prior to practices and games that will list the time and field location.

What if I have a problem on game day?
Every game day there will be a Field Marshall at the fields to address any problems or concerns, but any board member will be happy to help you (board members are usually wearing a CCSL Board Member polo shirt.) If you don't see the Field Marshall or a board member, you can call your age group coordinator, and they will help you or get a board member on site to assist you.
Where is my game equipment?
In the corner of the parking lot is a shed that houses all of the field equipment. Coaches usually get benches out of the shed for their team and return them after the game. Referees will usually bring the other equipment to the field (flags, game balls, etc.)
What if I need help coming up with practice ideas?
At the coaches meeting we will discuss options for coaching clinics hosted by CCSL and set a date and time for any interested coaches, but there are a lot of online resources out there as well. Here are a few we like.
